All Clear · free for MMOs, PSOs and PAM operators

The watch, kept.

Log the watch on your phone as it happens. Check every step against the rules you work to, dig into PAMGuard and write the reports on the laptop. Hand the office a live dashboard. Any browser, online or walled off; nothing uploaded unless you say so.

What's in it

What the bridge, the gun deck, the MMO, PAM and the party chief each do, and when, with the times counted back from the line. Printable for the wall.
One press reaches every department and every answer is timed. The source can't start without the token, and only ALL CLEAR hands it over.
Non-compliances, shut-downs, what caused them and where. One link and a passphrase, view only.
Any sea, any month: which whales, dolphins, seals and turtles are on record, when, and where they gather. In Fathom it's a layer behind the plan.
Works walled off
One file, no install, no network. Email it or put it on a stick; the checks run on your machine.

Your data, your call

1 · On this machine
The default. Kept in your own browser. Nothing leaves unless you send a file yourself.
2 · The ship's network
Device to device on board, linked by a code passed by hand. Nothing goes ashore.
3 · The sealed cloud
Locked on your device with your team's passphrase before it leaves. We store it and can't read it. The office dashboard and live broadcasts run on this.

Why free

Good mitigation shouldn't depend on the budget line it sits in. All Clear is free and stays free: no licence, no account, nothing uploaded. The MMOs, PSOs and PAM operators who use it early and tell us what works will shape it, and their support comes first.

Setting it up? Every crew fills the JNCC form in a little differently. Send a copy, or a screenshot, to yo@standardwavelength.com and we'll get it reading yours.

Questions

Is All Clear free?
Yes, and it will stay free: no licence, no account, nothing uploaded unless you turn on the sealed sync.

Does my survey data leave my computer?
No. Your survey is kept in your browser's own database on your device. If you choose the sealed cloud, it is encrypted on your device with your team's passphrase first, so we store it but cannot read it.

Which rules does it check against?
The JNCC 2017 guidelines by default, with presets for the BOEM Gulf of Mexico criteria (Tier 1 and 2) and IBAMA (Brazil), or your own permit's numbers. The presets are a guide: your consent conditions and the regulator's guidance are what count.

Does it read the JNCC marine mammal recording form?
Yes: the .xls or .xlsx workbook with its Cover Page, Operations, Effort and Sightings sheets. It checks it, merges each new week in, and writes it back out.

Does it read PAMGuard?
Yes: the PAMGuard SQLite database. It lists the modules, lays every detection against the form and flags the half hours PAMGuard was busy with nothing logged.

Does it work offline or on a locked-down network?
Yes. The whole tool is one file you can download, email or put on a USB stick; it needs no network and no install.

How to bring your data in
1 · The JNCC recording form
  1. Use the JNCC marine mammal recording form workbook as you fill it in on board: .xls or .xlsx.
  2. Keep its four sheets and their column order: Cover Page, Operations, Effort, Sightings. Extra sheets are ignored; renamed or moved columns are not read.
  3. One week or the whole survey in one file: both work. Dates as dates, times as times, all in UTC.
  4. Positions as degrees, minutes and N/S or E/W, as the form has them.
  5. Click Open your JNCC form (or Data ▾). It reads in this browser; nothing is uploaded.
2 · Then, if you run PAM: the PAMGuard database
  1. PAMGuard saves to the database set in its Database module. Use an SQLite database: the .sqlite3 file in your PAMGuard project folder.
  2. Stop PAMGuard or take a copy of the file first, so it is not being written while you read it.
  3. Open your JNCC form first, then Data ▾ → Add a PAMGuard database.
  4. All Clear reads every module's table that has a UTC time (click detector, whistle and moan detector, events and the rest) and the sound acquisition table for when it was listening. The binary files (.pgdf) are not read.
  5. It then lists the modules it found and checks the form against them: every half hour PAMGuard was busy should have an acoustic detection on the form.
PAMGuard is open-source software from the University of St Andrews; All Clear only reads its database. Not sure your files are right? Open the sample, then Reports ▾ → JNCC recording form to see the layout it expects.
