What we keep, and why.
Short version: no cookies, no tracking across sites, no selling. If you sign up for the newsletter we keep your email address to send it, and for nothing else.
The promise. We will never sell, rent, share or swap your email address, never add you to any other list, and never use it to contact you about anything except the newsletter you asked for. No spam, ever. Every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Who we are
Standard Wavelength Ltd, Manchester, United Kingdom. We decide how this information is used (the "controller" in UK GDPR terms). Write to us at 7@0-1-1-1.com about anything on this page.
The newsletter
- What we keep: your email address, when you signed up, which page you signed up on, and the exact wording you agreed to.
- Why: to send you the newsletter, at most once a month. That is the only use.
- Our legal basis: your consent, given by ticking the box. You can withdraw it at any time.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a note that the address unsubscribed, so it is never mailed again by mistake. Ask, and we will delete even that.
- Where: in our own database on Cloudflare, which hosts this site. If we later send the newsletter through a mailing service, it will process your address only to deliver the email, under a contract that forbids any other use, and we will name it here first.
Visiting the site
No cookies and no third-party trackers. For each page view we note the time, the page, the country and city, the name of the network you are on (for example a company or an internet provider, as Cloudflare reports it), the site that linked you here, and whether you are on a phone or a computer. To count visitors without knowing who they are we store a tag made from your address and browser mixed with a key that changes every day, so it can't be traced back to you or linked across days. No IP address and no name is ever stored. Page-view notes are deleted after 90 days.
The live tools load public data straight from their sources (NOAA, the satellite operators, aircraft-tracking networks, map and font services). Those requests go from your browser to them, as with any website that shows their data.
Your rights
You can ask to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Email 7@0-1-1-1.com and we will deal with it within a month, usually the same day. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters to you, we will say so in the next newsletter. Last updated 7 October 2026.
